What we learned from the SPIEL Essen 2026 demos
This is an original BBXTCG report, not a scrape of the publisher's news index and not a ruling. We were not at the Essen table. Confirmed means a public page says it. Reported by attendees means a player said it after the demo. Where those layers fight, we leave the fight in the open.
Confirmed
The game on the stand was BEYBLADE X Blader League, a trading card game. The publisher's site still files it as coming in 2027, set in that universe, and built around Beys, Bladers, and Avatars, played without mana. bladerleague.com On 6 October 2026 they told retailers, distributors, and press at the European Toy Fair that full mechanics would wait until the beginning of 2027. That note is also where the three card types and the "without mana" line are spelled out for the trade. Arriving '27
Four days later they opened early access for shops and distributors, and tied that list to allocations, organized play, and in-store events. Players are pointed at a different signup. We are not that signup. Early access The public debut was SPIEL Essen. The 14 October release puts the game on the floor on 22 October, Hall 5, Stand 5A215, with a "Spin to Begin!" playtest and the designers at the stand. The fair ran 22–25 October 2026. A Beyblade Hub roundup, which is press and not a page on the publisher's site, names the partners as T-Licensing, Creative Live Games, and ADK Emotions, and the operator as Creative Toys in Portugal. The same piece credits LOBA for the website and treats the idea that LOBA developed the game as unlikely. "Built the site" is not "designed the card game." Beyblade Hub Those same official pages do not show a card front, a price, a product lineup, a day-level release date, or a rulebook. If a number is not on one of them, we are not inventing it. Fans did photograph the demo. Terravist posted a table with a stadium-style playmat, miniature Bey pieces, prototype cards with very little art, and some cards face down. Han posted more prototype shots the same weekend. We do not download, proxy, or store those pictures. If the X embed is blocked, the plain links under each post still work. We also have not found a public video of the playtest as of 28 October 2026. Terravist's table photo · Han's prototype shots
Reported by attendees (unconfirmed)
Nothing here is printed as rules. Two accounts do almost all of the work, and they do not use the same words. Terravist, passing on friends who played, described a one-on-one game. Each player had a Blade and a Character. The stances in that account are Attack, Stamina, Defence, and Balance. Attack was said to win by knockouts, and Stamina by decking the opponent out. Terravist on the match The same conversation says both right-spin and left-spin were in the test games. Terravist on spin A round auto-plays the top card of the deck — the Bey has a mind of its own — then resolves actions one at a time. Both players compete on power, and crossing a threshold causes a burst that ends the round. Terravist on the round
Terravist later shared notes attributed to AlienKatze. We did not interview AlienKatze. One post carries the cluster. AlienKatze notes, as shared It guesses at a release around October 2027. Each player has a deck, a Blader with passives and a signature ability, and a Bey in a stance. The win it describes is five trophy cards, earned by dealing more force than the opponent. You play force cards or activate cards already in play, and those activations are gated by stance. The stance words here are Guard, Dash, and Spin or Stability, not the four names from the friends who played. Effects can rotate the Bey 90 degrees, or you discard to change stance. Each clash starts with an automatic top-deck, called the will of the Bey. When both players pass, or someone hits the threshold, the highest force wins. The notes also say the game is not trying to copy a physical Beyblade match one for one. Rare cards are said to carry art by the original manga artist, and sets are said to follow half-seasons of the anime. We are not naming that artist, and we are not showing any art. The photos that do exist are of sparse prototypes. Table photo
The stance-name conflict
Read the two reports together and the vocabulary splits. Terravist's friends came back with Attack, Stamina, Defence, and Balance. That post The AlienKatze notes come back with Guard, Dash, and Spin or Stability. That post Spelling splits too: Defence in the first report, Defense in a lot of English card talk. We are not picking a winner. The publisher has said the mechanics arrive at the start of 2027, which is another way of saying these words are not printed yet. Toy Fair note
Until a card or a rulebook uses a word, this archive stores stance as plain text. The stance menu on the cards page is a provisional list in one config file, not an official vocabulary. A later rename does not need a new database migration, and a card labeled Guard still files. The rules primer keeps the same split, with a tag on every line.
What we are leaving out
One post reads "speed, power and intensity" as if those were printed stats. They are promotional copy. The post The OnlyBeys clip from the same weekend is a fan edit, not a look at the demo. OnlyBeys We did not find a useful Reddit thread, hands-on YouTube video, or BoardGameGeek listing beyond those posts. The loudest posts and the press roundups that mostly restate the publisher are linked here. HaruRen · Nownews · The Card Vault
We will revise this when a rule is printed. If you played and your notes disagree, send a source we can link.
