AcademyAibo and Wossy take us inside the SPIEL Essen demo
Unofficial: from a demo with alpha sample cards, details may change.
This community lives on people who show up, play the weird new thing, and then take the time to tell everyone else what it felt like. On 29 October 2026, Ross (@thewossy) of Wossy Plays sat down with AcademyAibo (LXO AIBO), who had just spent about 45 minutes at SPIEL Essen with the designer of BEYBLADE X Blader League. The result is the first long-form hands-on interview we can send a friend. Thank you both. Seriously.
Thank you, AcademyAibo and Wossy
AcademyAibo — also on X as @AcademyAibo, on YouTube as @AiboAcademy, with more links at linktr.ee/_aibo_ and coaching at Metafy — walked Hall 5 near the end of a fair day, saw a banner for a Beyblade TCG nobody had heard of, and stayed long enough to play through a full demo with the designer. He came back raving. That curiosity is why this archive has anything concrete to write about.
Ross / Wossy — @thewossy, channel Wossy Plays — did what community channels do best: he cleared a slot, brought Aibo on camera, and asked the questions a TCG crowd actually cares about. Stance, Force, trophies, ultimates, organized play, foil. No corporate slide deck. Just two people who love card games talking through a demo.
If you have even a little interest in Blader League, watch the episode, leave them a like, and subscribe. That is how good coverage keeps happening for games that are still a year out.

What Aibo reported from the demo
Everything below is unofficial demo talk from alpha / sample cards. It is not a publisher rulebook. We cross-checked it against a transcript of the interview and folded the same points into the rules primer. Where earlier Essen notes disagreed on stance names, Aibo's account points at Dash, Stamina, and Guard — see the primer for the older labels.
- Setup is a Leader (passive) plus a Bey card whose four edges carry stances. You spin the Bey card to pick a starting stance; changing stance is an action.
- Turns alternate single actions. At the start of your turn the top card of the deck comes into play (the "will of the Bey"), then you draw — Aibo believed it was two cards — and you keep at most three cards in hand between turns. Field ability cards do not carry over.
- There is no resource system. Cards add Force when played. Abilities are used by turning a charged card sideways (discharging it), often gated by stance. Highest Force wins the round.
- The round winner takes a trophy. The loser looks at their top three, keeps one, discards one, and gives one to the winner as a trophy. First to five trophies wins. Emptying your deck is an immediate loss. Playing an out-of-aspect card costs the top card of your deck.
- Once per game, when its condition is met, the Leader flips into an Ultimate that is shuffled into the deck, and the Bey flips into its ultimate form on the table. Decks are 30 cards.
- Organized play talk floated best-of-three with three decks and one ban. Printing is described as Japanese manufacturing with lots of foil; artists named include people who have worked on One Piece, Digimon, and Gundam. Design was described as Portuguese.

Ross posted the episode on X. Terravist, who has been collecting Essen notes for the UK Beyblade scene, passed it along too. Watch there if embeds are blocked for you.

We will revise when a printed rule or an official card front lands. Until then: unofficial demo notes, tagged as such, and a loud thank-you to the people who went to the table.
